What is Local SEO? Local SEO is a strategy that improves visibility for local businesses. Brick-and-mortar businesses need to pay attention to this as a good campaign can increase the foot traffic in your business. As a consumer, think of how frustrating it is when you can’t find the information you need or it’s inconsistent, you might even lose interest and give up. Local SEO is a very effective strategy to make sure this doesn’t happen, Here’s some ways to go about it.

I'm going to start off by talking about Google business pages. Google business pages are huge for local businesses! We all know how much we use Google, so if your local business isn’t showing up, it’s going to make it very difficult for potential customers. If you haven’t already, create a Google business page for your business. Also, make sure you’re on Google Maps so people can easily find directions to your business!

However, simply creating a Google page isn’t enough. Once your page is created, you’re going to want to optimize it! Some information you’ll want to include is location, hours, type of business, phone number, and linking up the website. It’s also helpful to include other surrounding towns if you want to target those areas. I suggest using your Google page as a model or example for other pages. It’s key to stay consistent across all platforms and directories as this will also help Local SEO. Local packs are something to be aware of. If you search what type of business you’re looking for and the location, the three businesses that come up are the local pack. These businesses come up because they match what the person was looking for and they’re relevant to the search.

A few other pointers to keep in mind are search intent, keyword research, links, and reviews. Keep in mind who your competition is in the area and how’re your ranking with them.

What keywords are you using and are they helping you rank? Does this have an impact on search intent? Consider how your links and content are on your site and how it might be working for your business.
