The Importance of a Well-Branded Blog

Many people think of social media as a major digital marketing tool, and it most certainly is. A good social media campaign is key for many businesses’ growth. However, blogging is another great way to build your brand online. About five or so years ago everyone was blogging and there were tons of noise. The craze has calmed down, but a good blog can still be very effective. Here’s some ways to level up your blogging.

The first thing to think about is the purpose of your blog. Are you educating, informing, promoting or a mix of everything? Also, think about if your content is going to be professional or personal too? Once you’ve decided your approach to content, think about your audience. Is your audience going to sit and long posts or do they prefer something quicker to read through? After you have thought about all this, it’s time to get blogging!

Just like social media, all of your blogs should align with your business model and brand. Tip: it is always a good idea to go lighter on your first blog. Maybe it could be an introduction to your business or who you are. Don’t get too sale-ey on your first post. Focus on captivating your audience with a welcoming tone. The goal of this post is to build interest in what's next.

Find your unique voice. People can read about something anywhere. But people read blogs for certain reasons and many times because of the writer’s voice. It is a busy world online and people are craving something they can relate to. Be yourself it will go a long way!

Consistency: Choose how often you want to blog. Every week is often too much and not really necessary. On the other hand, once a month really isn’t enough. I usually suggest every 2-3 weeks especially when just starting out. Maintaining a good blog is time consuming so be mindful of overwhelm. However, whatever you choose try to stay consistent. It might even be a good idea to pick a designated day that your blog is posted on.

I think blogging is a wonderful way to stay connected with your audience and get the people interested! I highly suggest that entrepreneurs consider getting started with it.
