On Brand Colors

I love the branding process! It’s a way for me to have fun and be creative with my business. Branding can also be a stressful process as there’s so many pieces to it. One of the most commonly thought of parts of branding is your color palette. The goal of this blog post is to learn the importance of staying consistent your colors.

Like an artist chooses colors for a picture, that’s how an entrepreneur chooses colors for their business. Your color palette is a representation of your business.

From early childhood, we’ve bee told that colors evokes emotions. As adults, especially those who have branded a business are probably familiar with the term “color psychology.” Blue and green are earthly colors that can induce tranquility. Red symbolizes danger or love. Pink is girly, soft, frilly pretty and friendly. Purple is regal and artistic. Orange/yellow is cheerful and vibrant. Brown is rustic. Grey can be gloomy or tech-ey. White is pure and classy And black can be depressing, intimidating or sophisticated.

The picture of your business needs to be painted for your audience. Once you choose a color or color palette, it’s important to remember to stick with it. In the age of technology, we utilize platforms where we can set up these palettes. I have my colors saved on Sqaurespace, Canva and Flodesk. If I ever need to use them in other places, I can copy and paste the codes of the colors.Sometimes you might find a graphic with an inspirational quote that you really like and it’s ok to use that on occasion. However, a majority of your content should align with your color scheme for your brand.

I hope this helped give some background on color branding. Remember, stay consistent and have fun. This is a way to express the background of who and what you are. If you would like work through this, please reach out to bayrockdigitalmarketing@gmail.com.
