Google This, Google That! How to Optimize your Google Presence

Let’s face it- we Google everything! People often joke about this but it’s reality.  But how are we using Google for our businesses? Are we really optimizing its potential?

Google is a top search engine and has a big role in your visibility online. It is extremely important that you take some actions to have a strong Google presence.

  1. Link it up:  Once you’re verified, you want to make sure you’re linking up your site to your Google profile. This is important because people can now just search your business name instead of having to know your exact website address. You also want to make sure your phone number is listed. This sounds like obvious information but sometimes we’re so overwhelmed with everything when starting a business that we overlook things like this!

  2. Update information: Business owners need to make sure their Google presence is updated with the latest information. Like previously mentioned, business owners are oftentimes so busy that they forget to update their information. You want to make sure your hours are updated especially if you have a brick and mortar business. Tip: adjust your hours on Google for any holiday that Google detects as different hours.

  1. Ensuring your customers are in the know: A Google search can give clients and potential clients a snapshot of your business. This includes a variety of information about your business, what you do and where and who you serve. This also includes pictures that represent your business that you can share as visuals for visitors.  You want to make sure you're being clear with your audience about who you are and what you offer. When you create your Google profile, you will see categories that you can put your business in. Pay attention to this and choose a category that best describes your business. Another thing you can add to your Google profile is what you identify as. Google allows you to select various choices like women, Asian, Latino. Black. LGBTQ, or veteran owned! Lastly, Google has a Q&A feature that allows people to ask questions they might have about your business.

Don’t let this important part of your business go to the wayside! Be up to date on all the information you are providing on your Google account. If you have any questions on how to make these changes, reach out to me at bayrockdigitalmarketing@gmail.com to set up a call to chat more about this!
