Business and Seasons
As the “unofficial end of summer” approaches, the entrepreneurial mind asks, “what’s next” It’s crazy to think we are approaching the final quarter of 2024. As we wrap up summer, we go through a mindset shift. How will we transition back to the structure of the rest of the year?
Summer is marked as ‘break” in our culture. Schools shut down, people take vacations and overall, we enjoy the “easier side of life.” As Fall approaches, we are faced with the mountains of activities resuming. It can be a stressful transition. Here’s a few ways to stay productive for the final months of 2024 while protecting your mental health.
Schedule your days:
We all have other areas of our lives besides our business that needs attention. Whether it’s family, friends, a day job or volunteer work, we have other responsibilities to keep up with. Aside from other commitments, self-care is very important. Scheduling out your days will help reduce overbooking and burnout. I always suggest scheduling content to my clients. The power of writing it down and seeing it helps us stay on track with our priorities and goals.
Communication is key:
Communication is powerful in business and our personal lives. One of the biggest surprises that entrepreneurship gave me was the overlap with my personal life. In the early days I overbooked my schedule and wanted to do it all at once. I wasn’t effectively communicating, and it was causing stress. It was causing me to feel bad about not giving my most attention to my family, friends or clients. I soon realized that I had to communicate what’s going on. As a business owner, I had to make the choice whether or not I can say “yes” and how much time I will need. I’m very open with the people in my life. I will say to my family that I have to jump on a call, so I’ll be at my desk for the next hour. Or to my friends, yes, I can hang out with you tonight but after my call. By doing so, I’m giving the most to whoever I’m with. Communicate with the people in your life because good communication creates balance and calmness for everyone involved.
I hope this helped provide some tips for the next seasons coming up. Although these points should be used in every season, they are even more imperative to remember as transition back to the busier time of the year. Schedules will be filling up again and we will say goodbye to our lazy beach days for the year, we we have to practice this even more. I hope everyone had a relaxing summer and I’m wishing all of you a productive rest of the year!
