The Importance of Indexation
What is indexation? Indexation is what happens after your pages are crawled and get stored on a search engine. The process to get your important pages indexed in the SERP’s is technical so it’s important to familiar with some of those concepts.
Some factors that help are HTML, meta directives and sitemaps. These recommendations are ways to help your site go through this process. A sitemap is a collection of your sites. Some sitemaps for non-human and human readers. Sitemaps such as HTML are at the bottom of the page and used to help users. navigate the sites where sitemaps like XML are for non-humans.
Meta directives are the guidelines for the site to get indexed. It’s a good idea to be familiar with these parameters. It is key to remember that not everything in your site should be indexed. Getting familiar with these different parameters and what they mean help you get a better grip on what’s going on with the site. Some of this will serve as guidance on what’s going to appear in the search and the index of the page and results.
A tool to help with this is Google Search Console where you will be able to see and create sitemaps and see what pages are indexed and which ones aren’t. As a business owner, it’s good to have some understanding of this. However, it might be a good idea to look into working with a tech person for more advanced tasks.
