Level Up Your Networking!
The business world is full of connections and rejections. We are always meeting people who can add value to our lives and businesses. Networking is a huge skill that entrepreneurs need to know and do regularly.
But it’s not all about getting the client or not, it goes deeper than that. You will need a network and a Rolodex of contacts to run your business. These people can help you, or you can help them. They might be a resource for someone you know, and you might be a referral for them. When you go to networking events, you will meet the connections and rejections.
Connections are people who you have a positive experience with. It may be monetary, mentorship, peer relations, or a collab. You might even find yourself forming a friendship outside of business with these people, where you have coffee or lunch together. And lastly, sometimes these people sometimes just add value to your life or teach you something good.
Rejections come in many forms, too. It could be that deal that fell through the cracks, a partnership that went wrong, a refusal, or a roadblock intentionally caused by someone. Just like connections though, rejections teach you a lot of lessons, sometimes more than connections. They force you to face the hard stuff in your business and, quite honestly, your life.
I just told you a bunch of stuff that any business owner knows or definitely should know. It’s not new information; it’s nothing innovative. But the framework is. If we start identifying every interaction like this, we can better track our growth as an entrepreneur.
