How to Build a Marketing Plan
This week, I gave a presentation on creating an annual plan. It was empowering to have this conversation about organizing thoughts and goals. Planning can be stressful, but it’s a necessary process. Creating an agenda of tasks that need to be completed helps you actually do them. Marketers need to create a marketing plan for their campaigns. Here are a few ways to build a strong marketing plan to keep you motivated!
The brainstorming process helps you gather ideas to create your plan. It is the step in which you develop what you want to focus on. I suggest getting a piece of paper and jotting down your thoughts. This will reduce the feeling of being overwhelmed by all of them.
Once you feel more organized with your thoughts and have a clear direction, it’s time to get started! The objective should be one sentence that states your goal. You should list some of the goals you developed during the brainstorming process. You might have many goals, and reaching them may not be easy. Instead, choose about 3-5 priorities and action steps to achieve them.
It also helps to list out what you may need to reach them. This can include money, time, technology, and platforms. If you have all the information in the plan, you and your team members will better understand what you need to accomplish over time.
I hope this helped you understand the process of creating a marketing plan. It is crucial that you create one before starting any substantial marketing campaign. Whether doing a web design project, email, social media campaign, or bloggng, you want a robust marketing plan.
