Understanding Your Email’s Voice
Emails are an important way to connect with your audience. They can help you promote products/services or keep people updated. Some businesses choose to send out regular newsletters which can be a great digital marketing strategy. As effective as emails could be, finding your voice and stay consistent is key. Here’s a few ways to do that.
First, you have to establish your mission. Why are you sending out emails? Is it to get more leads or to build a community? The tricky part is it is ideal if you can to achieve both. However, as the business owner you have to pick one dominant tone for most of your emails. Remember, your audience doesn’t like surprises when it comes down to this. Do you really think they would like to see a weekly, resourceful newsletter turn into hardcore sales content? Avoid drastic and sudden shifts in your email campaign’s goal.
Next, comes down to your voice and who you are speaking to. Are your subscribers experts in a specific field? Or are they trying to learn basic skills? Sometimes you’ll have a mix depending on how diverse your audience is. If that’s the case, take a middle of the road approach. The verbiage shouldn’t be too advanced, but also shouldn’t sounded “dumbed” down.
Finally, stay authentic. Yes, provide valuable content that will hopefully bring in new sales. Yes, follow trends when necessary. However, stay true to who you are. Remember, the reason these people subscribed to you in the first place, was to hear what YOU had to say. Establish that voice that correlates to your brand and stick with it!
