Reflection and Celebration

I was 25 years old when I started Bay Rock. It was 2020, and Covid had been ravaging for months. It was also the weekend after election day, so tons of turbulence was circulating around. But I decided it was time to do what I wanted to do for a while: start my digital marketing business. And although it may have seemed like a really challenging time, I’m happy I did. Starting a company during that has taught me so much.

As I enter the final year of my 20s, I've been reflecting a lot. This year has been filled with important life lessons and growth. I sometimes put this business “on hold” throughout the year to focus on i-Empower Solutions, mental health advocacy, and "me.” But the passion was always present, and it’s become evident that the four “Cs” were the basis of my experiences.

Courage—” Do it scared.” I’m not a super adventurous person. I like to “play it safe.” However, approaching life courageously is essential for growth. This year was really about stepping out of my comfort zone to keep working towards my goals and also having fun!

Communication— Communicating in a kind but firm way helps so much. Setting boundaries and not letting people disrespect you is such an empowering feeling. I value kindness and am always mindful of how I speak to people. However, sometimes, you must stand your ground and say what’s best for you and your family.

Clarity is my word of the year. Clarity allows us to see things and people for what they are. This year was about accepting reality instead of running from it. It was about the realization of what supportive people look like. It can be easy to avoid because sometimes, clearly seeing reality hurts. But if we don’t see the storm's violence, how can we appreciate the beauty of the rainbow?

Celebrate: Don’t just celebrate your birthday and holidays. Celebrate the good days and the bad days, the fun days and the boring days. Celebrate every day!!

Here’s to 29! I have a feeling it’s going to be the best one yet! I’m so happy to have all the real ones in my life as I go on to another year. It’s amazing to have wonderful people as I go on this journey in my business and life!
